All of the pictures used in this series of Restored Photographs have been selected for their clarity and definition. A number of close-ups have also been included.
The majority of the photographs in volume one were taken by Dr. T. N. Krishnaswami during the period 1940 to 1949.
Three were taken by G. G. Welling of Belgaum, including the two famous 'Welling' busts and the well-known padmasana pose.
Three were taken during the early Virupaksha/Skandasramam days by unknown devotees.
Two were taken by Eliott Elisofon of 'Life' magazine, during the Kumbabhishekam celebrations at the Mother's shrine during 1949.
The balance were taken by various devotees over the years.
Wherever possible the photograph has been restored from the original negative.
Volume One contains 50 prints, comprising
18 newly restored photographs with 8 close-ups.
11 previously restored photographs with 3 close-ups.
40 new colour plates.
