Therefore, they tried to keep India industrially a backward country. Thus the British reduced India into a raw material supplier and consumer of finished British industrial products. An elfort has been made to discuss the various intricate issues of deindustrialization of India during the early British rule.
Since 1850 the British industrial policy. changed due to certain imperial interests and some modern industries began to grow in India. The industrial growth between the two world wars recorded a tremendous progress. The labour movement originated and developed alongwith the industrial growth.
The labour organizations came into being for the welfare of working class and they degended their rights. The labour movements also contributed to the freedom struggle. Thus, the hook presented a compact picture of industrial development and labour movement in India 1850-1950.
