Professor Ruqaiya Hasan started her career as a Lecturer of English and ultimately reached the highest position of becoming an Honorary Professorial Fellow and Emeritus Professor of Linguistics as Macquarie University, North South Wales. She enjoys respect and honor in the world of academics by her participation in various prestigious assignments, and her involvement in multifaceted socio-semantic research projects that have implications both for the theory of linguistics and for equal educational opportunities for disadvantaged sections of the community. as a scholar par excellence she has contributed immensely in different fields of inguisitc inquiry and has published papers and books in varied areas of genereal, theoretical and applied linguistics. She is an author of innumerable research papers and books. She has served in a number of universities across the world, and has also been a star peaker in a number of plenary sessions in international seminars and conferences.
We are binging out this fetschrift in honor of Professor Ruqaiya Hasan with a sense of pride and happiness because she belongs to us, and has always remained with us even when she belongs to us, and has always remained with us even when she has served the universities outside India. Keeping in view her academic and scholarly interest, we have makde a modest attempt to include some papers that fall under the purview of theoretical and applied linguistics. We are conscious of the fact that the articles included here do not satisfactorily capture the multifaceted academic and research involvement of Professor Ruqaiya Hasan.
