Natyasastra of Bharatamuni Vol - IV

This is the Second Revised Edition of Natyasastra of Bharata,Vol. IV, with the Commentary Abhinavabharati Adhyayas 28 to 37, revised and enlarged, along with Introduction by two well-known scholars, Prof. Dr. V.M. Kulkarni and Prof. Dr. T.S. Nandi. This part was first edited by M. Ramakrishna Kavi and J.S. Pade as G.O.S. No. 145 in 1964 . The importance of the commentary Abhinavabharati on the Natyaktstra is well-known to the scholars in this field. Unfortunately, the text of the Abhinavabharatt is not well preserved. Hence, it was required to be properly edited on the basis of available manuscript-material and other allied works like the Kavyanusasana, the Natvadarpana etc. The Prakrit verses in the text were also a problem to the editors. After the publication of the first edition, some new material, in the form of manuscripts from Nepal, was available and hence the text needed to be revised in the light of that material and other allied works. Prof. V. M. Kulkarni and Prof. T. S. Nandi have tried their best to make the edition as perfect as was possible with the help of the material available to them. Especially, Prof. V. M. Kulkarni has written articles regarding the reconstruction of the several passages of the text. In this edition, we have also incorporated several new appendices.
