Description

This book presents a systematic and textually grounded study of Kashmir Śaivism. The particular focus is on the Trika system as a comprehensive and internally coherent non-dual philosophical tradition. Moving beyond introductory expositions, it undertakes a sustained analysis of foundational categories Spanda, Krama, and Pratyabhijñā. It also examines in detail the metaphysical structure of the 36 tattvas through close engagement with primary sources and their interpretive traditions.

A central aim of the work is to rearticulate Trika as a complete soteriological vision. In this vision, transcendence and manifestation are not opposed. They are integrated within the dynamic self-revelation of consciousness. In this context, the manuscript critically examines modern tendencies to reduce non-duality to abstraction. It instead develops a sustained argument for the indispensability of Śakti, graded realization, and disciplined spiritual praxis. Its comparative engagement with Advaita Vedānta and related darśanas further clarifies points of convergence and fundamental doctrinal distinctions.

The study also addresses underexplored yet structurally significant questions within the Trika tradition. These include the role of kundalini in liberation, the interpretive status of siddhis, and the necessity of Krama for embodied practitioners. These are treated within the internal logic of the system.
