The Abhidharmasamuccaya-Bhasyam discovered in Tibet, by Mahapandita Rahula Sankrityayana and disiphered and edited by Dr. N. Tatia is seeing the light of the day. The work was alloted to Dr. Tatia in 1956. Inspite of his multifarious engagements the learned scholar could submit his press copy long with the introduction and contents on 22-12-73. Due to financial difficulties the work could not be sent to the press before March 1975. The printing could be completed during the last summer. The learned editor inspite of his desire to add a detailed introduction since then could not do so for his pressing engagements elsewhere. We therefore had to reluctantly decide to publish the book in the present form with a hope that the learned editor will publish the intended introduction as and when he finds adequate leisure.
The Abhidharmasamuccaya of Arya Asanga was published by Prof. Prahlad Pradhan from Shantiniketan. The present Bhasya gives a good elucidation of the text and adds a valuable item to the existing Abhidharma literature.
I take the opportunity to express my thanks to the learned editor, the Press authorities and to Prof. Dr. Srinarayana Misra, my beloved student, who saw the volume through the press.
I should also thank the authorities of the Bihar Research Society, Patna, the custodians of the Photo-copies of the Rahula Collection for allowing us-to publish the work in our Tibetan Sanskrit Series.
