INTRODUCTION

यथार्थवचनानां च मोहार्थानां च संशयम्। अपनेतुं हि भगवान् ब्रह्मसूत्रमचीक्लपत् ।। तस्मात् सूत्रार्थमागृह्य कर्तव्यः सर्वनिर्णयः ।

(म.ता.नि - 1/43-44)

The very significance of the manifestation of Sri Narayana as Sri Vedavyasa is to redeem the virtuous persons who are blinded by the deficiency in their Jnana. Sri Vedavyasa wrote the Brahma Sutras which are the quintessence of all the Sastras, and those Sutras alone could establish what is right or what is wrong in the Sastras because of the statement सूत्रेषु सर्वेऽपि निर्णयाः समुदीरिताः When these Sutras are meant to deliver the Jeevas from sin and damnation, these were interpreted wrongly and the wrong interpretations misled the people from the path of Jnana and thus made the Sutras ineffective. To help regain the ground lost by the Jeevas, Sri Vayu, the Jeevothama by the command of Sri Hari as SMV(8-4) puts it, took the Avatara as Sri Purnaprajna, directly heard from Sri Vedavyasa the excellent original meaning of the Vedas, Mahabharatha, Puranas, Brahma Sutras and Pancharatra which is dear to the virtuous, wrote the Bhashya on Brahma Sutras refuting all the earlier 21 commentaries. His composition of Bhashya according to SMV (9-10) contains words which cannot be comprehended fully even by Pandits, has simple words that are dear and bring tranquility to the virtuous, fear to the opponents and
