The practitioners of Streeroga are the most sought after, as many of the problems can be cured through Ayurveda without side effects. The subject has been very well dealt in the sutra form in the ancient samhitas. But the Samhitas were not written to meet the present day requirements of the students of Streeroga.
"Streeroga Vijanan – Made Easy" is an attempt to meet the requirements of the students of Ayurvedic medicine, both at graduate and post-graduate levels. The book has been written keeping I view the syllabus framed in various universities in India and the requirements of the students.
Accordingly, the book is organized into chapters, each chapter covering an important topic of the subject. The book is written in a very simple and direct style, to make the understanding of the topics easy. It also gives, to the extent required and feasible, a brief introduction to similar topic in modern gynaecology. Model papers for MD entrance are appended.
The book will, no doubt, be useful to the students to do well in the examinations. It is also expected to be useful to the practitioners.

She has received national award from Directorate of Adult Education, Government of India for her book on Antenatal Care in 1984, just after completion of her degree in Ayurveda from Nagarjuna University, Vijayawada. Since then, she has been contributing immensely in the field of Stree Roga through regular features in journals and also presents Ayurveda awareness programs over Telugu cannels like ETV and SVBC. She has given series of lectures on Ayurveda at HELP – Health Education Library for People which are available on internet. She is a national awardee for two times for her booklets on Ayurveda from Children’s Book Trust.
She has been writing books on Ayurveda both in English and Telugu. Her earlier book in English, "Padartha Vijnana – Made Easy" and "Prasuti Tantra – Made Easy" have been very useful to the students of Ayurveda. Her book in Telugu (Ammayi-amma-ammamma) on women’s health is proving to be quite useful to women of all ages, in various stages of their lives.
She has been awarded "Adarsha Vanitha Puraskar" for her service to the society through Ayurveda. She is recently felicitated with "Best Woman" award by Andhra Mahasabha, Mumbai in 2013 for her service in the field of health through Ayurveda.
Ayurvedic Samhitas were written several hundred of years ago. They were written in a style which is very much different from current style of writing. In comparison to today's text books on medicine, they do not look well organised. We all know that during those days students were not taught through books. They learnt through residential teaching wherein sishyas used to stay with gurus until the completion of their education. Gurus used to teach any time convenient to them and also sishyas used to get doubts clarified any time a doubt arose. They used to have subject discussions to draw right conclusions on that matter. It was only later that some of the sishyas attempted to compile the notes based on discourses and discussions into Samhita form. Therefore, we find that many of the Samhitas were not organised into proper chapters. We will not be able to know whether a particular topic is covered in a particular chapter or not unless we read the entire Samhita.
There is no doubt that the best way of gaining knowledge is to read the original Samhitas. But for various reasons it is very difficult to read and understand the originals. As the topics are not arranged in a sequence that is followed today, the students of Ayurveda may find it really difficult to study them. Therefore they require text books to help them understand the topics. They can refer to the original Samhitas after getting a clear understanding of the topics through the text books written according to the syllabus.
When we talk about the Ayurvedic anatomy and gynaecology, we don't find all the relevant topics in any one chapter of a Samhita or for that matter in any one Samhita. We don't find the detailed anatomical description of any organ or system of the body as in the case of modern text books. We find only brief descriptions in sutra form in Ayurveda and for some there may not be a description at all.
Being the author of this book, "Streeroga Vijnan - Made Easy" I have attempted to present all the topics in a sequence which I feel is going to be quite useful to Ayurvedic students. I have taken into account the syllabus of various Ayurvedic medicine courses in the country and the requirements of the students.
I did not attempt to compare the Ayurvedic description and terminology with that of the modern science as I did not feel the need to compare and show that whatever is de- scribed in modern science is present in the ancient texts. I presume that this is not the need of the time. People all over the globe are appreciating the importance of Ayurveda in the health care system. We need to present to the world that our ancient treatments and diet restrictions are time tested and that they are very much relevant even today.
The contents of the Samihats are presented in the order and in accordance with the syllabus. Modern description helps in understanding properly whatever is there in the ancient texts in the sutra form. Therefore a brief description of the same topic as per modern science is also given along with. Wherever modern anatomical terminology can be clearly given along with ancient text, I presented the same for better understanding.
I hope this book will be helpful all the students to get through the examinations successfully and also for practice in future. In case some of them want to pursue further in academic line, I recommend that they should go through the original texts and understand them better.
Suggestions are always welcome to make this book more useful in future.
